Practical guide
Plan a link-in-bio page people can scan and act on
A useful link-in-bio page is a small navigation system, not a pile of buttons. Visitors usually arrive from a phone with limited context, so the page should identify who it represents, explain what is current, and make the primary next step obvious. Every extra block competes for attention and should earn its place.
UrlShorter provides a hosted, block-based publishing workflow. It does not replace a custom-domain website, an ecommerce checkout, a booking system, or a full analytics platform. Treat it as a maintained front door that routes visitors to those systems, and test the complete journey after each meaningful edit.
Choose the right destination format
Use this table to choose the workflow that matches what you need to publish today.
| Decision | What UrlShorter provides | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| One immediate destination | A regular shortened link sends a visitor directly to one destination and can keep campaign URLs compact. | Use this when there is one clear action. Adding an intermediate page would create an unnecessary tap. |
| Several current destinations | A hosted link-in-bio page can organize links, social profiles, context, contact details, and selected media. | Keep the choice set small, order it by visitor intent, and remove outdated campaigns instead of accumulating links forever. |
| Search visibility or owned-domain authority | UrlShorter pages provide a shareable urlshorter.cc address but are currently excluded from search indexing. | Use an owned website and domain when organic search, advanced integrations, or long-term domain equity is the goal. |
| Checkout, booking, or data collection | Buttons can point to an external service that owns the transaction or form workflow. | Keep sensitive information and consent flows in the specialist service; confirm its privacy notices and mobile behavior. |
From template to published page
- 1
Define one primary action
Write down the audience and the one action the page should make easiest. This becomes the first visible button and the standard against which every other block is judged.
- 2
Select a relevant template
Choose a link-in-bio starting point whose hierarchy fits the content. Replace all sample names, example links, images, and contact details before considering the page ready.
- 3
Build a short information scent
Use a precise headline, a compact description, and action-led labels such as “Read the field guide” instead of vague labels such as “Click here.” Keep related links together.
- 4
Preview the real destinations
Check narrow and wide previews, then open each external URL. Verify HTTPS, mobile layout, campaign parameters, accessibility, and the destination shown after any redirect.
- 5
Submit, review and maintain
Submit only after replacing placeholders and testing destinations. Pending pages are hidden until approved. Editing an approved page returns it to review, so allow time before a campaign change and check the builder status before sharing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I connect my own custom domain to a link-in-bio page?
No. UrlShorter currently hosts published pages on urlshorter.cc. Custom-domain connection and white-label hosting are not available.
Will my link-in-bio page appear in Google Search?
Not by design today. User-created public pages are conservatively marked noindex, so use the page as a destination you share directly rather than as an SEO landing page.
Does the page builder provide per-button click analytics?
The page builder does not promise per-button analytics. If measurement matters, use separately managed campaign links with consistent UTM parameters and verify the resulting reports in your analytics system.
What should I publish above the first screen?
Lead with a clear identity, one sentence of context, and the single action that matters most. Put secondary links, social profiles, media, and longer explanations below that first decision.
